Robert J. Harris’ practice encompasses construction law as well as complex commercial litigation. With regard to his construction law practice, Mr. Harris has litigated claims on behalf of developers/owners, general contractors /subcontractors, and design professionals concerning building defects, building delay claims, environmental exposures and other significant issues involved in the construction process. Mr. Harris' practice in the area of commercial litigation covers sophisticated commercial contract disputes, systems integration litigation, patent litigation, commercial lending disputes and executive employment lawsuits.
 
Key Professional Accomplishments
Mr. Harris has argued various appeals in the construction area including the following recent cases: Kieinschmidt v. County of Cook, et al., 678 N.E.2d 1065, 223 Ill, Dec 57, 287 Ill.Apppp.3d 312 (2d Dist. 1977); Board of Managers v. Zale et al., 288 Ill. App. 3d 801, 681 N.E. 2d 102, 224, Ill Dec. 120 (1st Dist. 1997); cert. granted. (1998); Balsamo Olson v. Worn, 966 F.Supp. 757 (C.D. Ill.1997); Vilas Development Corp. v. Ross et al., N.E.2d (1st Dist. 1998).
 
Publications/Presentations
Mr. Harris authored several articles for the construction/ design industry, including:
Wiley Law Publications; chapter entitled "Fifty State Contractor and Design Professional License Law" (1997).
"Limitation of Liability Clauses: Allocating Risky Business" which can be located in The Construction Lawyer, October 1993.
Mr. Harris has also lectured and given various industry-related presentations and speeches, which include the following:

Education
Mr. Harris received his Juris Doctor degree in 1985 from the Yale Law School and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamilton College in 1982, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
